Islamabad and Rawalpindi Roads Blocked Amid PTI Rally

Islamabad: The Islamabad administration has closed several key roads in Islamabad and Rawalpindi due to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally, leading to significant traffic disruptions.

Access to the Red Zone is available via Margalla Road, but all other major entry and exit points are blocked. Metro bus services, including the Red Line, Green Line, Orange Line, and Blue Line, have been suspended, along with feeder routes and the Pink Bus Service. Both sides of Islamabad Expressway and the road from Lehtarar to Khanna Bridge are also closed.

Srinagar Highway remains open for traffic and can be used for travel to and from Islamabad Airport. Travelers can access Peshawar Road via Srinagar Highway, Faizabad Road, and IJ Principal Road from Rawalpindi Railway Station.

The entry to Islamabad from Bahria Town is closed at 17 Mile, and GT Road is blocked at the Sangjani point coming from Taxila. However, the weekly Sunday market remains operational.

Motorways M1 and M2 are open, but the Islamabad-bound side of Motorway M2 is closed, with the Lahore-bound lanes accessible. Blockades have been set up at the Kallar Kahar, Balkasar, and Neela Dulha interchanges.

A heavy police presence is deployed at motorway interchanges, causing severe travel difficulties for those heading to Islamabad.
